Hey Mike,
welcome to the forum

i am not trying to brag or make myself sound really good.
maybe i just think i am good because i am playing against brothers from the hall and they suck.
i tell the qb "look for me again, i will be open deep.
Hey Mike,
welcome to the forum
frank
it has been accomplished, it's over, done, kaput.
a chapter of my life that has lasted 5 and 1/2 years has reached its final page and the book is now closed.
(no, i'm not talking about my sex life, that's been more than...erm, well, never mind).
congrats!
this is big news and the beginning of a new chapter in your life. ( sure beats going door to door)
good luck
Frank
how would you discribe a true friend?
and do you think you ever had any real freinds while you were there?
i think its hard to have a real freind if you need to be careful about everything you say and do.
no
so here's the deal.
i have been df'ed for almost 2 years now.
the elders have not tried to contact me once within this time.
Hi Tina, welcome to the Forum
I was in your position many years ago. The elders wanted to "continue" meeting with me. If you have no intentio of returning to the JWs, My advice to you is not to meet with them. Remember, that no matter what you tell them or try to reason with them; in their eyes, YOU will always be wrong. They sincerely believe that they represent GOD.
Good luck, and let us know what you decided, and what their reaction was
regards,
Frank
thank you so much for all the kind welcomes!
i finally feel ready to put my story together, after months of gathering my thoughts.
so, here it is, way too long i think, but here goes: .
Welcome to the Forum, Netty,
You are among friends
regards,
Frank
(obviously this question is for those who are non-religious in any conventional sense).
what have you replaced religion with in your life?
(by that i mean the religious life with it's rituals, worship and group identity) what is your raison d'etre?
secular education and positive thinking.
I have no interest in religious beliefs of any kind ( unless it is philosophical)
i've been seeing a very nice guy for two months now, every day, almost every minute.
as you know it can become very obvious when a guy is about to pop the question.. i have been very honest with him about when i'd be willing to marry, which is to say not until i graduate from college which is still a 1 1/2 years away, of course i hear things like "well a couple can wait but be commited right"?.
anyway i've bounced this off of my friends and have several opinions already but i thought i'd ask it here.. how long would you date someone before you considered accepting an engagement ring?
Stacy,
I can only advise you based on my own experience. If you are still in school, what is the big rush?
When it is the right time for you to say those "I do" words, you will know it and not have to ask .
Take it slow; if you say that you are not going to start a family ( and you may change your mind) there is no rush against a biological clock.
Why can't you both enjoy each other and postpone the marriage until school is over?
good luck, I am sure what ever decsion you make will be right for you
Frank
i find that the witnesses are very "haughty".
haughty is described in the oxford dictionary as "proud of oneself and looking down on others"; how well this describes the wtbts.. how many people were very proud of having "the troof"?
how many people felt that they were special.
I am guilty as charged, Shamus.
I was taught that I had the only true belief. To ditto what some other posts have already said; We had it--they did not. And in hindsight--I was arrogant about it--and I payed the price.
I like to think of myself as a better person these days--open minded and interested in other ways of life.

Happy Birthday!

welcome to new world food and "spirits".
LOL,
this is a hilarious post.
Stepanus had a good suggestion, you might want to add some HUMBLE pie to the menu, although come to think of it, I do not , or cannot remember any "Humble" witnesses. When was the last time the Watchtower appeared humble to anyone?
